It is bottled in bond under the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, which means a strength of 100 proof (50% ABV), and it has been aged for at least four years. It is often used in classic cocktails such as the Manhattan and the Old Fashioned.
The nose is dry rye grass, black pepper, sweet vanilla and toasted oak. The palate is bold and spicy, with peppery rye and cinnamon softened by caramel, dark chocolate and a little fruit. The finish is crisp and long, with a dry, spicy warmth.
