Romano Levi Grappa di Barbaresco is made by Distilleria Romano Levi in Neive, in Piedmont's Langhe. Serafino Levi founded the distillery in 1925. It is made on an open-fire alembic still, in a single pass, and each label is hand-drawn.
The grappa comes only from the pomace of Nebbiolo grapes grown for Barbaresco DOCG, from vineyards in Barbaresco, Treiso and Neive. It is aged for at least three years in Piedmontese acacia wood casks of roughly 700 litres.
The colour is medium amber. The nose has herbs, tobacco and delicate floral notes. The palate is dry and balanced, with liquorice, vanilla and ripe dark fruit.
