Rosebank – 31 Year Old Release Two (2022) (48.1%)

This is a 31 year old Lowland single malt from Rosebank, issued in 2022 as Release Two of the distillery's Limited Release. The whisky was distilled shortly before the Falkirk distillery closed in 1993 and has matured in cask ever since. Bottled at 48.1% ABV, it is described as keeping a juicy, fresh character despite its long maturation, with hints of lime and lemongrass. On the nose there are citrus, lime, lemongrass and coriander seed, with cloves, soft vanilla and sugared almonds. The palate is light and lively, with mint, chamomile and leather, then berries and banana bread. The finish turns sweeter, with touches of peach, oak and long herbal notes.
