Roughstock Montana Black Label is a cask strength American single malt from a 2011 release, bottled at 61.5% in a 75cl bottle. It is made in Montana, at the foot of the Bridger Mountains.
The spirit is distilled in copper pot stills from malted barley and matured in heavily charred new American oak barrels. It is bottled straight from the cask, without chill-filtration or dilution.
The nose is peppery plum and candied orange peel with honey, oak spice and vanilla. The palate brings leather, cloves, chilli heat, dark chocolate and toasted oak, and the finish is long and warming, ending on light honey sweetness.
