Roughstock Montana Bourbon is made in Montana, at the state's first legal distillery since Prohibition. It is bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle.
Four separate bourbon recipes, each built on locally sourced grain, are distilled in small batches with Montana mountain water and then blended together. The whiskey is aged in new, extra-charred American oak barrels.
The nose opens with barley, freshly cut hay and vanilla, moving to roasted nuts and subtle oak. The palate has tobacco and leather alongside dark chocolate, ripe plum and sweet caramel. The finish is long and warming, with ginger and cloves and a dry, spicy close.
