Saburomaru IV The Emperor is a Japanese single malt from the Saburomaru distillery in Toyama prefecture, distilled in 2020 and bottled in 2024 at 48%. The release ran to 12,500 bottles, and the label shows a paper-cut design by the artist Yukie Kano, taking the fourth card of the Major Arcana as its subject. The malt was dried with Highland peat at 50 ppm and fermented in the wooden washback introduced at the distillery in 2020. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. The nose offers ripe apple and pineapple with vanilla, oak, oven ash and beeswax. The palate is soft and slightly oily, with ashy, sweetish peat smoke, and the finish keeps ash and wood in play.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
