Sagamore Spirits – Double Oak Rye (75cl)

This is a straight rye whiskey from Sagamore Spirits, bottled in a 75cl size and made in the Maryland style. It is aged for four to five years in high-char new American oak barrels before a second stage of 18 months. For that second stage the whiskey moves into barrels fitted with toasted wave staves, which are low-char and medium-plus toast. The extra surface area of the staves is credited with caramel, toffee, hazelnut and toasted coconut character. The whiskey is then reduced to bottling strength with limestone-filtered water from a spring house built in 1909.
