Sandeman 40 Year Old Tawny is a tawny port from the Douro, a blend of ports aged up to 40 years. Sandeman has been a port house since 1790. The colour is deep amber with golden hues.
The nose is perfumed, with vanilla, oak, honey, dried apricot, figs, raisins, nuts and warm spice. On the palate come dried figs and dates, toasted almonds and walnuts, caramel and toffee, with a hint of orange peel. Oak warmth meets fresh acidity.
The finish is long and warm, with nutty, sweet-spice echoes.
