Sazerac Straight Rye (70cl, 45%)

This is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey made at Buffalo Trace Distillery and aged for four to six years. It is bottled at 45% ABV in a 70cl bottle, and is easy to spot by its retro long-necked fluted shape. The Sazerac name goes back to the 19th-century Sazerac Coffee House in New Orleans, where Peychaud's bitters, absinthe and rye whiskey were first combined in the cocktail of the same name. The Sazerac Company, which owns Buffalo Trace, takes its name from that origin. It is described as a balance of sweetness, herbaceousness and menthol rye spice, and works in a Sazerac or stirred with red vermouth in a Manhattan.
