Scapa 10 Year Old is a single malt from the Scapa distillery on Mainland, Orkney, bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It matured for ten years in ex-bourbon American oak casks, and it is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The distillery, founded in 1885 on Scapa Flow, is known for its Lomond wash still and a honeyed character with less peat than many island whiskies.
The nose brings fresh pineapple, mango ice cream, crème brûlée and cinnamon buns with a little citrus peel. Stewed apple, warming spice and vanilla custard lead on the palate, with banana, charred oak and milk chocolate. The finish is fruity and spicy, with tropical fruit and fine oak.
