First fill American oak
Scapa Skiren is a single malt matured only in first-fill American oak. It was introduced in 2015, when the decision was taken to stop producing the 16 year old Scapa. The nose is gently sweet, with honey and fresh cream, green apple, a touch of aniseed and some nuts. On the palate it is warming and keeps its honey sweetness, with juicy pear and fresh lemon zest before soft oak and warming spices develop. The medium finish is lightly sweet, with pronounced oak.
