Scarabus Bordeaux Cask is an Islay single malt from Hunter Laing, released in 2025 as a limited edition. It is finished in Bordeaux Grand Cru wine casks and bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The wine cask finish adds dark berries and stewed plums to a strongly smoky character, while oak and tannins give the finish a dry, winey structure.
On the nose, dark berries, stewed plums and nutty notes sit alongside earthy peat smoke. The palate brings toasted almonds, salted caramel and oak spice. The long finish combines fruity sweetness, spicy oak and lingering smoke.
