Schladerer Kirschwasser (42%)

Schladerer Kirschwasser is a clear cherry eau-de-vie from the Black Forest in Germany, made by the family-owned Alfred Schladerer distillery. It is not aged in wood. It is distilled from fully ripened sweet cherries grown at 200 to 300 metres in the foothills of the Black Forest. The cherry stones go into the fermentation, which gives the spirit its almond note. The nose is ripe, fresh cherry with a faint marzipan almond aroma. The palate is cherry-led, with almond and marzipan, rich without sweetness and held in balance by acidity. The finish is mild and warming, with fruit and nut echoes. It can be sipped slightly chilled as a digestif or used in cocktails.
