Shenk's Homestead 2024 is a Kentucky sour mash whiskey from Michter's, made with a high rye content plus malted rye and caramel malt. The edition uses some whiskey matured in French oak from the Vosges, air-dried for 24 months before the casks were made and toasted to Michter's specification. The 2024 batch of 1,990 bottles is filled at 45.6%. Shenk's Homestead recalls John Shenk, a Swiss Mennonite who founded a distillery in Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania, in 1753. It sits in the Michter's Legacy Series alongside Bomberger's Declaration. The nose combines crème brûlée with spice. The palate is herbal, with spice, fruit and nougat, and the finish is soft and creamy.
