Shinobu 15 Year Old is a Japanese pure malt whisky finished in Mizunara oak, in a 70cl bottle at 43%. It was a category winner at WWA 2020.
The nose is of deep wood, maltose, nectar, blueberry, Mizunara oak and milk coffee. The palate is oily, with ripe fruit, lemon peel, leather, cinnamon and ginger. The finish carries a hint of sweet malt, with aromas of wooden barrels and a touch of fruit. The sweet aftertaste stands out, and the barrel brings different levels of spice.
