Shinobu – Pure Malt Whisky Lightly Peated Mizunara Oak Finish (70cl, 43%)

Shinobu Lightly Peated is a Japanese pure malt whisky in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 43%. Master blender Usami Ken blends malts aged in sherry and bourbon hogsheads, then finishes them in Japanese Mizunara oak. It is bottled without chill-filtration or added colour. The distillery stands in Niigata, on Japan's western coast. The nose is minty and creamy, with light peat, a touch of lemon and hints of charcoal ash and smoke. The palate brings moderate peat with toasted oak, charcoal ash, dry grass and a hint of saltiness. The finish is lingering, with toasted wood and plenty of sweetness from roasted malt.
