Smokehead Extra Rare is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Ian Macleod.
The nose combines sherry and malt with dense drifts of cool sea smoke, barley, tar and old rope on a beach. On the palate the peat is robust and peppery, in warm chunks, with dense smoke, coal tar and iodine, then a little honey, lemon peel and sticking plaster. The finish is long and smoky, with toffee brittle and zesty fruit.
