This is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Smokehead, a limited edition bottled at 58% ABV. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The whisky was matured in bourbon casks and finished in rum casks.
The nose opens with a heavy hit of dark peat smoke against sticky sweetness, with burnt marshmallows, charred pineapple, bacon and banana. The palate is thick, oily and salty, with black smoke followed by honey and citrus for a brief moment of sweet relief. The finish is long, with smouldering smoke, toasted oak and a distant hint of fruit.
