Ardbeg – An Oa Single Malt Whisky (75cl)

An Oa is a single malt from Ardbeg on Islay, in a 75cl bottle. It is a vatting of whiskies from PX Sherry butts, virgin charred oak casks, Bourbon barrels and other vessels, married together before bottling. Ardbeg's stills have a purifier under the lyne arm, which helps separate lighter alcohol from heavier. This gives the distillery a lighter body and a marked salinity, with a refined, delicate texture that still carries plenty of concentration. An Oa adds dark chocolate and butterscotch, mingled with anise and exotic spices, to Ardbeg's smoke, salt, iodine, peat and citrus.
