Smokehead Terminado Tequila Cask is an Islay single malt from Ian Macleod Distillers, released in 2022 as part of the skull-labelled Smokehead range. It is bottled at 43%.
The whisky matured first in American white oak and was then finished in tequila casks.
The nose is peat smoke with sauerkraut, plasters, conifer and grilled beef, plus a touch of tinned pineapple and pomelo. The palate brings warming spice, wood smoke, gentle medicinal notes and a little ash, with charred lemon and a hint of dark salted caramel. The finish is medium in length, with ashy smoke, damp wood and honey.
