Speyburn – 11 Year Old Port Octave Cask The Whisky Chamber (50cl, 58.3%)

This is a single cask Speyburn from Speyside, bottled by the independent bottler The Whisky Chamber. Distilled in 2005, it matured for 11 years and was bottled in 2017 at 58.3% in a 50cl bottle. Only 89 bottles were filled. The cask was a Port octave, holding around 50 litres. The small size gives the whisky a relatively large contact with the wood, and the Port gives it a slightly dark, reddish colour and flavours of dark fruit. The nose offers toffee, cherry and sweet baked apple. On the palate the Port comes through clearly, with a fine, present sweetness.
