This is a Speyside single malt from Speyburn, matured in bourbon casks and bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. Speyburn is one of Scotland's smaller distilleries, set in a wooded valley on the River Spey near Rothes, and it draws its water from the Granty Burn. Its builder, John Hopkins, was determined to begin production in 1897 so that the whisky would date from Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee year. The workers managed to fill a cask shortly after Christmas, while the distillery still had no windows or doors.
