This is a Speyside single malt from Speyburn, finished in rum casks and bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
Speyburn is one of Scotland's smaller distilleries, set in a wooded valley on the River Spey near Rothes, and it draws its water from the Granty Burn. Its builder, John Hopkins, wanted production to start in 1897, the year of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. A cask was filled shortly after Christmas, even though the building had no windows or doors yet.
