Speyburn 18 Year Old is a Speyside single malt, matured for 18 years in American and Spanish oak casks.
The distillery was founded by John Hopkins, who set out to have his first whisky ready in 1897, in time for Queen Victoria's 60th jubilee.
The nose is sweet toffee, sugared almonds and thick tropical fruit, with caramelised sugar, candied apple and a very light honeyed smokiness. On the palate come creamy dark chocolate, toffee, gentle oak spice and a touch of citrus. The finish is long and lightly smoky, with a bittersweet edge.
