This is a Springbank single malt from Campbeltown, distilled in 1958 and bottled in 1983 by R.W. Duthie & Co of Aberdeen. It was bottled for the Corti Brothers of Sacramento and Narsai's Restaurant, at 46% ABV (92 proof), in a 75cl bottle.
The nose combines Springbank's greasy character with floral hints of violets and lavender, plus smoked tea, light pipe tobacco, shoe polish and burnt cake. On the palate come elderberry syrup, genepy liqueur, a little absinthe, walnut oil and liquorice wood, with a metallic edge. The finish is long, sappy and mentholated, with smoke and salt in the aftertaste.
