Springbank – 5 Year Old 100 Proof (70cl, 57.1%)

This is a five-year-old single malt from Springbank in Campbeltown, a recent addition to the distillery's core range. It was first released in 2025 and has been issued periodically since. The whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks. It is made from the distillery's own floor-malted barley, peated to around 12-15ppm, and distilled two and a half times. It is bottled at 100 degrees proof under the old British system, which is 57.1%, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The nose is bright, with green apples, gorse bush, wine gums and a mineral edge. The palate is well balanced, with a touch of peat smoke, icing sugar and white chocolate, then tomato plant, sunflower seeds and linseed oil. The finish is honey and gooseberries.
