St. Kilian Peated Rich & Smoky is a German single malt made with heavily peated Highland barley malt, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It sits in the distillery's core range alongside the unpeated Classic, and all the whisky in it comes from St. Kilian.
Seventy per cent of the blend matured in former bourbon casks and thirty per cent in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks. It is non-chill-filtered, and its golden colour comes from the casks alone.
The nose combines grilled apricots, juicy pears, ripe banana and vanilla, with lime, mint, mild peat smoke and dry ash. The palate is full, sweet and fruity, with creamy toffee, warming oak spice, white pepper and mint. The finish is long and warming, with fruit compote, dark toffee and ashy smoke.
