This is a single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, made from the Fay Vineyard in Napa Valley. Nathan Fay planted Cabernet there in 1961, and the estate bought the vineyard in 1986. Its soils are a mix of rocky, volcanic and alluvial ground. The 2012 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. It was fermented in stainless steel, then aged for 21 months in French oak, 85% of it new. On the nose and palate it shows red berry pie with hints of vanilla and cinnamon, and a bright cherry crunch. The tannins are velvety, and the finish is long.
