An estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon from the S.L.V. vineyard, Stag's Leap Wine Cellars' first planting, established in 1970 in the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley. A wet spring led to heavy canopy growth, but the rest of the 2019 season was close to ideal, giving freshness and concentration.
The nose is perfumed, with black currant, plum and candied fig over cocoa dust, dried herb and clove. The palate is supple yet firm, with polished tannins, dark fruit, fig and violet, tangy cassis and crushed rock. The finish is long and structured, closing on minerality, dark fruit and fine-grained tannin.
