Starward – Ginger Beer Cask #7 (70cl, 48%)

Starward Ginger Beer Cask #7 is an Australian single malt from the distillery's limited Starward Projects range. Whiskies from red wine and apera casks were married, then finished in casks that had held Starward's own ginger beer. Apera is an Australian fortified wine. For this seventh edition the ginger beer used more fresh ginger than in earlier ones. It was distilled in 2018 and bottled in 2022 at 48%, natural colour and not chill-filtered. Ginger, orange and dark chocolate meet on the nose. The palate is led by warm, spicy ginger with vanilla and fresh pineapple, balanced by sweet raisins and figs. The finish is warming, with candied ginger, citrus and sweet apera notes.
