Starward – Vitalis 2007/2022 (52%)

Vitalis is a single malt Australian whisky from Starward, released for the distillery's 15th anniversary. It was distilled in 2007, bottled in 2022 and bottled at 52% ABV. The name is Latin for life and honours David Vitale, who founded the distillery in Melbourne. The base is Starward's characteristic red wine casks, joined by four other cask types from the distillery's history: Apera, the Australian take on sherry, casks that held tawny, Australia's fortified wine, and the bourbon and rum casks Starward experimented with. It is described as fruity, mature and complex, with toffee, dried fruit and coffee beans.
