Starward Vitalis is a limited-edition Australian single malt from Melbourne, released for Starward's 15th anniversary and bottled at 52% ABV (104 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
It is a vatting of six parcels of whisky aged between 4 and 10 years, matured in red wine barrels, tawny port casks, bourbon barrels, apera casks and rum casks. Its name nods to the founder's surname.
The nose offers chewy toffee, dark raisins and chocolate-coated pineapple over cedar. The palate is big and viscous, with dried fruit, red currant, malt loaf and cocoa. The finish is long and oily, with chocolate, currant, spice and cedar.
