Stauning – 5 Year Old American Oak Single Cask #2544 The Awakening Series (70cl, 61%)

A five-year-old Danish whisky from Stauning, bottled from a single cask, number 2544, for the Awakening Series by Kirsch Import. It matured in new American oak and was bottled at a cask strength of 61% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. The new oak is credited with its spice and a balance of sweet, smoky and woody notes. The colour is a coppery amber. The nose offers spicy honey, vanilla and caramelised oak with light smoke. Roasted grain, maple syrup and campfire smoke come through on the palate, and the finish is long and warm, with sweet vanilla and dry oak.
