Stauning – Bastard

Stauning Bastard is a rye whisky made entirely from local ingredients. The grain is malted on the distillery's floor and distilled twice in flame-heated pot stills. It spends a minimum of three years in new, toasted virgin American oak casks, then at least six months more in seasoned mezcal casks from Oro de Oaxaca in Mexico. The nose is sweet pipe tobacco smoke, raisins, oat biscuit, citrus and oak. The palate brings tobacco, vanilla, barley, dried fruit, cinnamon, brown sugar, molasses and shortbread. The finish is long, sweet and slightly smoky, with salt, brown sugar and pepper.
