Stauning – El Clásico

Stauning El Clásico is a Nordic rye whisky given an additional period of ageing in vermouth casks. The idea came from the Manhattan cocktail, in which rye whisky and sweet vermouth are paired, and the aim was to bring that character into the whisky itself. The result is a rich amber whisky with sweet notes tempered by bitter botanicals, and a warm, robust grain character that ends spicy and bittersweet. The nose has apples, oranges, ripe plum, warm spices, cinnamon and roasted caramel. The palate brings dried fruits, citrus and crushed pepper, and the long, warm finish carries bittersweet notes of vermouth.
