Stauning Peated – 7th Edition (2012–2018) (50cl, 48.4%)

This is the seventh edition of Stauning Peated, a Danish single malt from Stauning Whisky. It was distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2018 at 48.4% in a 50cl bottle. The peat is clearly present but controlled, giving a dry smoke woven with malty and slightly spicy notes. The nose offers smoke, ash and toasted grains, followed by soft vanilla and a light citrus freshness. The palate is medium-bodied, with peat smoke, malt, pepper and a subtle woody note. The finish is dry, slightly medicinal and lingering.
