Stéphane Aviron Domaine de la Madrière Vieilles Vignes 2023 Fleurie (75cl)

This is a 2023 Fleurie from Stéphane Aviron, made from the Domaine de la Madrière, a five-hectare estate vineyard in the cru itself. It is farmed biodynamically on clay and limestone soils, and it is the estate-owned vineyard in Aviron's range, so he looks after the vines himself. The Vieilles Vignes label reflects vines that are at least forty years old. Fleurie is known as the most delicate and floral of the Beaujolais crus, built on perfume and finesse rather than muscle. In the glass it is medium to full-bodied and nicely concentrated, with sweet strawberry, plum and red fruit compote, and a firm, structured finish.
