Strathisla – 10 Year Old Hart Brothers 2010 (70cl, 46%)

This is a ten-year-old Strathisla single malt from Speyside, a single cask bottled by Hart Brothers at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in a refill bourbon cask, whose limited influence left the distillery's own aromas largely intact over the ten years. Strathisla is generally soft, round and elegant, and single cask bottlings are rarely seen. The nose is elegant and fresh, with apricots, burnt sugar and yellow apples. The palate has yellow fruit liqueur, tingling sweet spice, cinnamon and a little clove. The finish is warming, sweetly spiced and surprisingly long.
