A single cask Strathisla selected by La Maison du Whisky for Artist #12, part of its Legendary Distilleries series. Distilled in 1997, it matured for 25 years in a refill hogshead and was bottled in 2022 at a cask strength of 50%, without chill-filtration or colouring. The cask gave 269 bottles, and the label carries Mathéo Modols' black and white photograph Slate Roof.
The nose is fresh and fine, with lilac, lily of the valley, hay, mint and lemon, then Williams pear, Golden Delicious apple and banana. The palate opens with jasmine and iris, then white grapes, vanilla and candied lemon, ending on fresh-cut grass and sweet almonds. The long finish brings liquorice, citrus, tropical fruit and fresh ginger.
