This is a 25 year old Japanese single malt from the Saburomaru distillery of Wakatsuru Shuzo, a company that began as a sake brewery in Tonami, Toyama prefecture, in 1862. It is bottled at a cask strength of 59% in a 72cl bottle.
The 1990 release is a one-off and the last under the original Sun Shine name. Only 500 bottles were filled, each presented in a porcelain decanter with a wooden display case.
The distillery's malt is heavily peated, at 50ppm, and matured in charred ex-bourbon casks and refill Yamanashi wine casks.
