This is a 25 year old Japanese single malt from the 1990 vintage, bottled at a cask strength of 59% in a 72cl-sized 720ml decanter. It is the last release under the original Sun Shine name, with later single malts moving to the Saburomaru label. Only 500 bottles were made, and each comes in a porcelain decanter with a wooden display case.
It comes from Wakatsuru Shuzo, a Toyama sake brewery founded in 1862 that has made whisky since 1952. The distillery's malt is heavily peated, at 50ppm, and matured in charred ex-bourbon casks and refill Yamanashi wine casks.
