Hibiki 21 Year 100th Anniversary Edition is a limited-release Japanese blended whisky from Suntory, bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It marks the centenary of Suntory's founding of its first malt distillery.
The blend combines malt whisky from Yamazaki and Hakushu with grain whisky from Chita, each component aged for at least 21 years. For this edition the blenders put Mizunara oak at the centre of the blend, bringing out sandalwood, incense and spice.
The nose shows kumquat, jasmine and incense, with blackcurrant and ripe pear. The palate moves from vanilla and dark toffee to sherry spice, sandalwood and dark cherry. The finish is long, with Mizunara spice, caramel and a lemony brightness.
