Suntory Red (64cl, 39%)

Suntory Red is a blended Japanese whisky made from malt and grain whiskies, bottled at 39% in a 64cl bottle. It was introduced in 1930 as Akafuda, the younger counterpart to Shirofuda, later known as Suntory White. The profile is smooth and mellow, with caramel sweetness balanced by vanilla, wood and fruit. The nose is gentle, with grain and caramel and a faint honeyed apple, and a little oak spice appears with time. The palate is soft, with vanilla custard sweetness, grain and a light oak dryness. The finish is short, with grain and a hint of caramel.
