A bottle of Suntory Royal blended Japanese whisky from the 1970s, in a 72cl bottle at 43% ABV. The blend was introduced in the 1960s and ran for 40 years, and it became one of the most popular whiskies in Japan. It has an amber colour and comes in an ornate bottle. The nose offers cinnamon, caramel, ginger, cherry, vanilla, oak and malt biscuits. On the palate there are raisins, spice, corn and a surprisingly woody note, with a silky, oily body and some old bottle effect. The finish is peppery, with light spice and corn sugar.
