Suntory Yamazaki Peated Malt Spanish Oak is a Japanese single malt from the Kogei Collection, part of the 2024 Japanese Kimono Edition. It uses peated malt and Spanish oak, was distilled at Yamazaki, the oldest distillery in Japan, and is bottled at 43% ABV. It is a limited edition. Kogei means traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The labels and outer packaging were designed with Chiso, a Kyoto kimono house, using Bokashi-zome gradation dyeing. The colour is dark amber. The nose is gently smoky, and the palate brings bitter orange marmalade and dark chocolate with soft sweetness, faint citrus and a sophisticated smokiness.
