Talisker 10 Year Old is a single malt from the Talisker distillery at Carbost on the Isle of Skye, bottled at 45.8% in a 70cl bottle. It is distilled twice and matured for at least ten years in American oak.
The distillery was founded in 1830 by the brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill and is the oldest working distillery on the island. Its character combines peat smoke with dried-fruit sweetness, barley malt, sea notes and pepper.
On the nose it is smoky, with a salty note of fresh oysters and a citrus sweetness. The palate is full and rich with a peppery warmth, and the finish is very long, with pepper, sweetness and lingering smoke.
