Talisker – Distillers Edition (70cl, 45.8%)

Talisker Distillers Edition is a 45.8% single malt from the Isle of Skye. After a first maturation in refill American and European oak casks, it is finished in charred American oak casks that previously held Amoroso sherry and were fitted with new, heavily charred heads. The finish adds a rounder, fruity sweetness while the dry peat smoke and pepper remain. The nose is maritime, with sea air, seaweed, smoke, sweet malt and sultanas. On the palate it is full, oily and soft, with smoke and salt, roasted figs and sweet dates, then pepper and a gentle chilli warmth. The finish is long, sweet at first and growing drier, with peat smoke and cocoa.
