Talisker – Port Ruighe (70cl)

Talisker Port Ruighe is a single malt from the distillery on the Isle of Skye, sold in a 70cl bottle. The name, pronounced Portree, pays tribute to the Scottish merchants who helped establish the port wine trade. It carries no age statement. The whisky begins in traditional American oak casks and then matures a second time in ruby port casks, which add depth and fruit to its maritime smokiness. The nose offers blackberries and gentle smoke, then crème pâtissière, custard and a touch of coconut. On the palate come roasted pineapple, barbecue smoke, honey, cantaloupe and toffee, with ripe plums, dark berries, pepper and a coastal saltiness. The finish is long and smoky, with fruit and charred wood.
