Talisker – Skye (70cl, 45.8%)

Talisker Skye is a single malt from the Talisker distillery at Carbost on the Isle of Skye, bottled at 45.8% in a 70cl bottle. It is a tribute to the island's contrasting landscape, from quiet shores to the rugged Cuillin Mountains. It matures in refill casks and toasted American oak casks, with the toasted casks slightly more prominent, plus a small share of bourbon casks. This brings out the softer, sweeter side of the malt while keeping its smoky, spicy, maritime character. The nose opens with fresh orange and soft mango, over seaweed, dry driftwood and salt. The palate is soft and sweet with a slight prickle and restrained smoke, then turns more savoury with warm spice. The finish is dry and medium in length, with a smooth echo of peaty embers.
