Teeling – Blackpitts Peated Single Malt (46%)

Teeling Blackpitts is a peated Irish single malt named after the Blackpitts area of Dublin, next to the Teeling Whiskey Distillery and known for its malting houses. Peat smoke is used to dry the barley during malting. The whiskey is triple distilled, which tempers the medicinal edge often found in Scottish peated malts and brings out a barbecue smoke character. It matures in ex-bourbon and ex-Sauternes white wine casks and is bottled at 46% without chill filtration. The nose combines barbecue smoke and cloves with butterscotch and orange peel. On the palate come applewood smoke, honey and allspice alongside stewed pears and grilled pineapple, and the finish returns to savoury smoke with salted caramel.
